Thank you to all who joined this OA Community meetup as we welcomed Roland Rosevear to unpack the State of Global Hiring report and how the global worker model will continue to transform the way work gets done.
Hiring across borders continues to grow, despite economic uncertainty. Yet, the global worker model is a resilient one, making it more and more attractive to organizations. You might say, it’s a big Deel.
So, how did global hiring fare in 2022? Find out what are the most popular countries & cities for global remote workers, who got hired for what roles, and how the economic climate impacted terminations and salaries.
To attend a future meetup, register for a free OA Community Membership here, and a calendar invite will follow.

00:55:00 Jeffrey Moss: And it’s not about good / bad of freelance / employees. It’s rather about having the right mosaic.

00:58:13 Brandon-Open Assembly: Jeffrey Moss
00:58:17 Lorraine Charles, Na’amal: This is like using McKinsey vs a small boutique consultancy firm
00:58:37 Brandon-Open Assembly: Mark Hannant
00:58:40 Lorraine Charles, Na’amal: Same output but McKinsey is a premium
00:59:24 Brandon-Open Assembly: Ben Ross
01:00:00 Jeffrey Moss: Agree @Lorraine, but as a customer I might be willing to pay that McK premium b/c I believe (right or wrong) there is additional value I am getting. Could be as simple as having the brand association, single neck to wring, etc.
01:00:19 Todd Brous: Ummmm….
01:00:45 San Rahi: I agree that there is a new factor here that is not price related: some of the big hairy business challenges we see REQUIRE diverse expertise and experience to tackle (which no firm can provide internally.) Open talent can be a high-value design solution.
01:01:43 Mark Hannant: @San – increasingly a scale and skills arbitrage on top of cost
01:02:40 Jeffrey Moss: No single right solution and victory is not everyone as freelancers. Rather it’s highlighting the value freelancing can add for orgs & individuals AND making it easier for both to engaging in freelancing when it makes sense.
01:03:03 Connor Heaney: Can’t ignore labour arbitrage, but also tax arbitrage for the workers that either want to work remote somewhere or be a digital nomad somewhere else. I think the End client drivers will be multi factorial: cost, access, skills , constraint breaking, flexibility, tired of same old old. Best we are not prescriptive on our approach
01:03:12 Ben Ross: Reacted to “Can’t ingnore labour…” with 👍🏽
01:03:31 Ilya Brotzky: we’re a Deel partner. been a great experience
